| Soda_Jerk (Dan & Dominique Angeloro) are Sydney-based video artists who work exclusively with found audio and visual samples. Their hour-long narrative video remix 'Pixel Pirate II: Attack of the Astro Elvis Video Clone' (2002-06) critiques intellectual property law, and since its launch at the AGNSW, Sydney, has screened internationally in the Czech Republic, Germany, Scotland, the Netherlands, Mexico and India. | Their Australian remix 'Picnic at Wolf Creek' (2006) was included in the 16th Video Brasil Festival, Brazil and won the Recycled Cinema Award at the 2007 Sydney Underground Film Festival. In 2008, Soda_Jerk exhibited their 3-channel video installation 'Astro Black: A History of Hip-Hop (Episodes 0-2)' in Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. This ongoing episodic work mixes documentary and science-fiction in an investigation of the temporal politics of Afrofuturism. | It will also screen in 2009 at the Harlem Studio Museum, New York. In 2008, they received an Australia Council for the Visual Arts grant to attend the 6th Orphan Film Symposium, New York, and undertook a 3-month Asialink studio residency in Bangalore, India. They are currently working on 'The Dark Matter Cycle' of videos, exploring the intersection of death, temporality and cinema. |
